Samhain, meaning "Summer's End" and pronounced saah-win or saa-ween, is a celebration of the end of the harvest and the beginning of the ancient Celtic New Year! Come and enrich your senses with the magic of the season.
Samhain, the Celtic New Year (aka "Hallowe'en") is upon us!
On Monday, October 31st at 7:00 p.m. the Celtic Arts Center will be celebrating Samhain in person! We will be hosting a party at The Mayflower Club that will feature a Halloween costume contest and a Celtic trivia contest, some storytelling and poetry, and perhaps some dancing too. We will also have a traditional Celtic music jam session that night, so musicians, please bring your instruments and your best tunes.
We'll be following all safety precautions and ask our guests be fully vaccinated, as recommended by the LA County COVID-19 health guidelines. Unfortunately, we're still not able have a potluck, but liquid refreshments will be available from the bar and individually-wrapped tasty treats will be on hand for our members and guests.
We ask that everyone cooperate and please practice respectful social distancing with others — After all, we're all in this together. Let's all play safe and have some fun!
HONOR THOSE WHO CAME AND WENT BEFORE YOU...
One of the unique features we've had at our Samhain celebrations is the Ancestors Table. Similar to the ofrenda altar of Dia De Los Muertos celebrations originating in Mexico and Latin America, this is an opportunity to pay your respects to friends and loved ones who have passed but live on in your hearts and fond memories. We encourage attendees to bring photos of your honored forebears who've passed beyond the veil, place them on the table for awhile, and light a candle in their memory.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh — Thank you all for your participation!
No reservations are necessary. There will be a no-host bar with a variety of beverages available for purchase. You, your family and friends are cordially invited to join in the fun and festivities! Donations are an important part of supporting the Celtic Arts Center's cultural programming and also help pay the rent. Please consider donating a minimum of $5. The Celtic Arts Center thanks you!
