The Celtic Arts Center is excited to present, live in concert, Deirdre Ni Chinnéide — a composer of Celtic music, a renowned singer, and a workshop facilitator presenting throughout Ireland, the United States, Australia, and Europe. Mark your calendar because you don't want to miss this enchanting performance on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the Mayflower Club.

The Aran Islands just off the west coast of Ireland, with their unique history, culture and natural beauty, have provided inspiration and a special setting for Deirdre's music and retreat work. She divides her time between the Aran Islands, the Irish mainland, Australia, and the USA, offering retreats, workshops, and performances of spiritual music. Deirdre is the composer of two acclaimed CD's of her enchanting music, Celtic Passage and I Will Sing For You, and has sung at many events and retreat houses all over the world.

Deirdre composed and sang "Siochan Peace" during the opening ceremonies for the 30th UN International Day of Peace Conference in 2011 .

She and her sister Mary have recently written a book called Journey to the Well (Hachette Publications).

Here's a brief description of her inspiration for her Celitc Passages album:

"Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands on the West Coast of Ireland, and a place steeped in Celtic Heritage, was the inspirational place where Celtic Passage was written. It is a musical journey connecting us to the power of the Celtic world, exploring themes of life and death, the earth and nature, the savagery of war, the redemption of love and ultimately the splendor of creation.

"The Celts believed in the existence of other worlds known as the Land of the Sí (spirit). The Druid or Shaman would travel to these other worlds at will and return with insight into problems and challenges of everyday life.

"You are invited on this adventure, an odyssey through this other world. Celtic Passage calls us to remember, to return to the natural rhythms that connect us to a deeper and more joyful experience of life.

"It is a musical journey of relationship – to self, to others and to the wisdom of our Celtic ancestors. It is the sound of Sunda that calls us home, to the seasons of our own heart."
