Session dancer on a table

If you've always wanted to get up and dance to the tunes you hear in an Irish Session but you didn't know any of the time-honored, well-honed steps that make up this lovely old-style, flat foot dance tradition, now's your chance to learn the basics!

This workshop can help teach you the rhythms that are essentail to Irish, Scottish, and all Celtic music. Rhythm guitarists and bodhrán players, in particular, can benefit.

Brian Ó hAirt has been studying, stepping and singing Sean-Nós for decades and we on the West Coast are so lucky to have him nearby.

Some important info:
  • This is a 2-hour workshop for beginners and experienced alike.
  • Wear comfortable clothes.
  • Shoes: Hard leather or smooth-bottom composite soles (hard rubber or plastic) that give a good thwack. Low heels preferred.
  • No taps or fiberglass-tipped Irish hard shoes, please.
  • Pay with cash only at the door – $30/student.
  • Parking is on the street ***watch and read the signs.***

This is the best type of shoe for Sean-Nós Dancing. If you don't have access to shoes like this please bring any shoes that are low, wide, slide and make noise. Please don't bring tap-shoes or fiberglass-tipped Irish hard shoes.
